The White House says that the economic stimulus bill, American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, “will create or save 3.5 million jobs over the next two years.”  Hmm, “create or save” seems just a tad ambiguous.  In 2008, we lost 2.6 million jobs. Saving a job is one thing, but creating a new job is something else entirely. Maybe it’s just me but it sounds like CYA political speak.

Yes, we need to save jobs, but with rising unemployment (over 7%), creating jobs will be key to economic recovery. As of today, I know 12 people that have been laid off in the last 6 months; you can almost double that number for the last year. Only a handful of them have found new jobs. H-o-p-e-fully, most existing jobs will be saved and new jobs will fill the majority count for the 3.5 million create or save estimate that Team Obama is using for cover.
