dish and discussion of the latest news and events from the U.S. political scene
In a survey conducted on September 2, 2008, Rasmussen asked likely voters if they would vote for a woman for President. Overwhelmingly, 85% of voters say they are willing to vote for a woman for president. According to Rasmssen’s results:
Voters by a substantial majority think a woman is likely to be elected president of the United States in the next 10 years, and nearly half (48%) think Hillary Clinton is at least somewhat likely to be the one. [emphasis added]
In a head-to-head match-up between Sen. Hillary Clinton and Gov. Sarah Palin, Clinton holds a double digit lead over Palin. Rasmussen asked survey respondents: “Suppose that you had a choice between Sarah Palin and Hillary Clinton in the Presidential Election? For whom would you vote?” Clinton beats Palin by 11%, 52% to 41%, with 7% unsure.
Although, men prefer Palin over Clinton 49% to 45%, women prefer Clinton over Palin 57% to 35%. Rasmussen finds a “predictable” partisan split with 87% of Democrats supporting Clinton and 85% of Republicans supporting Palin. Unaffiliated voters go for Clinton 48% to 39%.
If it wasn’t for Hillary Clinton, Palin would still be a little known Governor of Alaska. Hillary’s historic presidential campaign, primary and popular vote victories, and her 18 million voters make Palin’s opportunity possible. Palin makes history as the first woman on a Republican national ticket and she may very well be the first female Vice President.
Now, with that said, I look forward to 2012 and helping Hillary make history again as, Madame President, Hillary Rodham Clinton!
Thank you, Hillary!
