Speaker Nancy Pelosi might have a little company on the ballot this year in San Francisco. Peace activist, Cindy Sheehan, is set to challenge Pelosi for her U.S. congressional seat. Dissatisfied with Democrats and Pelosi’s unwillingness to impeach Bush and end the Iraq War, Sheehan is putting together a long shot bid to unseat the Speaker.

Cindy needs a few more dollars and signatures to get on the ballot. This from Count Us Out:

Cindy Sheehan is a gutsy anti-war Democrat who is challenging Nancy Pelosi’s congressional seat. If Cindy wins, Nancy will be OUT of Congress.

To get on the primary ballot, Cindy must turn in 10,198 signatures by August 8. As of today, she has 9,764.

Let’s help put her over the top! Donate to her signature collection drive!

$1,000 TOTAL would do it — $10 each from 100 people, or $5 each from 200.

If you don’t live in San Francisco you can still help. Besides all of the amazing volunteers we have on the streets collecting signatures, we also have paid signature gathers helping us out. This costs us $1 for every signature they collect, worth every penny – but an extra expense.

A $10 donation can help us secure 10 valid signatures. Support our signature drive with a contribution.

Sheehan, whose son, Casey, was killed in 2004 while serving in Iraq, became the very public face of the anti-war movement. From 2005 to 2007, Sheehan mounted prolonged demonstrations outside Bush’s Crawford, Texas ranch and the White House.

Sheehan is poised and ready to pounce. Let’s help her oust Pelosi. Contribute.
