dish and discussion of the latest news and events from the U.S. political scene
Andy Martin’s new book, Obama: The Man behind the Mask is sure to cause a stir. Among the many teasers, Martin alleges that Obama has lied about his parent’s marriage, is really illegitimate, and is now using Michelle Obama to leak the story. TexasDarlin noticed Michelle off script and Count Us Out has more on Martin’s allegations.
Martin’s press release states that advanced copies have been provided to the media. “The book was mailed to some Washington media last Friday, and Monday afternoon it will be delivered in Midtown to Fox News, MSNBC and others.” Hmmmm, interesting timing on that over-the-top New Yorker cover coming out on Sunday evening and dominating news coverage all day today. Coincidence? I doubt it.
Here is a snip from Martin’s press release dated July 11th:
‘The Mask’ is a compilation of my original columns combined with a series of startling new essays on every aspect of Obama’s life. Some of my comments are short and tart, some sharp and long, others derisory. The new material is sure to be controversial. None of it has been published anywhere before. My original news conference about Obama in 2004 has become one of the most Googled items on the Internet. The new book has already exceeded our expectations.
‘Obama has relentlessly tried to stop me. He has thrown his recent ‘Manchurian Surrogate,’ Danielle Allen, into the fray. But we keep fighting back, with the truth abut [about] Barry O. Obama is a political version of Budd Schulberg’s Sammy Glick. He is a crass opportunist who has thrown everybody under the bus in his rise to power. And if people are foolish enough to elect Obama, he’s going to throw America under the bus as well,’ Martin states. [emphasis added]
‘My book catalogs Obama’s operations through the nomination victory last month. Now he has reversed himself, moving from the extreme left to ‘who knows where?’
Hold onto your seats and your Hillary for President signs. Looks like we are in for another show. Martin’s book is available for pre-order through Amazon. I’ll pass.
Update 1: I don’t care whether or not Obama’s parents were married when he was born (mine weren’t), but what is problematic is if he lied about it. We’ll have to wait and see what proof Martin provides. In the meantime, I’ve been able to dig up some background on Anthony R. Martin-Trigona a.k.a. Andy Martin. What a character!
Martin has been credited by Danielle Allen as the “originator of the ideas in the [Obama Muslim smear] e-mail.” Martin’s Wikipedia entry gets even sketcher, describing him as a “perennial candidate” and “vexatious litigant” as well as an antisemite. I was not able to confirm the charges of antisemitism. I found a blog talk show in which Martin was a guest on March 24, 2008. BTW, the host is AA. The first 30 minutes are worth a listen; after that who knows, I bailed. It also looks like Martin is trying another run for office, and with his book, another attempt at some headlines.
Update 2: On Friday, July 18, Larry Johnson interviewed Andy Martin on No Quarter Radio’s Security Corner.

Yikes! This is going to be big. FYI – Larry has posted an ad for the book on No Quarter. It will be interesting to see what the MSM does with this.

We’ll have to wait and see, Ripley. Martin isn’t the most credible person based on his background.

Yeah, I did some digging on this story too and I am not sure what to think of this guy either. I agree, we’ll have to wait and see.
